You may have been a bridesmaid at many weddings and know the drill, but most likely this experience is all new to you. We’ve been around enough weddings to know there are always things that get over-looked or the wedding party wished they had on hand. So we’ve compiled this helpful list of things some essentials every bride and groom need in the wedding day survival kit.

BAND AIDS – You never know when you’re going to have an oops moment and need one. But the biggest culprit of band-aid needs at your wedding is those fancy wedding shoes that you only wear one day and they never are broken in just as much as you would like. Or perhaps it’s the fancy strapy heals that looked so perfect with your bridesmaid dresses but none of them are used to wearing. Either way blisters happen and band-aids are needed! If you haven’t tried out the Blister Band-Aids I would highly recommend you give them a shot and add them to your kit!

BREATH MINTS – At a wedding you are up close and personal with a lot of people…not to mention that first kiss! You want to make sure your breath is at its best. I would recommend not getting gum, as you don’t want to be chewing in your videos and photos. Our favorite mints are these Mentos Clean Breath they really do give you a big jolt of freshness and it lasts!
BUTTON DOWN SHIRT – A helpful tip for the bride and her bridesmaid is to put on a button down shirt while you’re doing your hair and makeup. This helps you keep your beautiful dresses clean and product free. But the real bonus here is that you can easily just unbutton it and slip it off when it’s time to put your dress on! No need to worry about pulling a shirt over your hair and makeup and potentially smudging it.

GARMENT STEAMER – No matter how careful you are when you pick your dress up from the seamstress or the dry cleaners, there are always seems to be a few wrinkles that sneak in! A garment steamer is a small, portable piece of magic! Just a few minutes and the wrinkles come out. It’s a lot safer and more gentle than an iron so you don’t have to worry about burning your garment.

SEWING KIT & SAFETY PINS – There really isn’t much that can’t be fixed when it comes to wedding garments if you have some decent safety pins and a small sewing kit. We even had a wedding where I had to help rescue a bride whose dress zipper wouldn’t stay zipped up! Safety pins to the rescue! Fortunately she had a lace-up and zip-up back so we could disguise it with the ribbon.
EXTRA TOILETRIES – You might think you’re good to go when you leave the house in the morning, but your wedding day is a whole day event full of activity. Make sure you pack some extra deodorant, your toothbrush, toothpaste and extra hair products so you can freshen up as the day goes on. There’s nothing worse than an unclean feeling!

INSTANT STAIN REMOVER – You’re in your outfits all day long. That means you’ll most likely be consuming food and beverages at some point. If you’re anything like me there’s a reason I don’t wear white very often! I’m bound to spill on myself when its most important not to! I’ve found that these Tide to Go Instant Stain Remover Wipes are a lifesaver. They may not entirely remove the stains, but they sure do a lot better job at clearing it up then smudging it around with water on a paper towel.
CHANGE OF SHOES – At some point you’ll realize it’s not worth fighting those blisters you needed the band-aids for earlier and wish you had packed another pair of shoes. This goes for the bride and groom, kick off the fancy shoes and rock a fun pair of sneakers or ballet flats at the reception. Trust me, no one is going to think ill of you. After all it is YOUR day!
SNACKS & BOTTLED WATER – The day is so busy it’s easy to forget to eat. Make sure you have some not so messy, but nutritious snacks packed to give you a little burst of energy when you need it. Nuts and granola or protein bars are great for this!
Hopefully you’ve found these suggestions helpful! Just remember, you can prepare all you want for your big day and there is bound to be something that goes wrong or you forgot – these things are all minor. At the end of the day you will be married! And you’ll be celebrating a new chapter of your love story.
